Established early in 2013, South Coast Sailing began as a sailing tour business run by Gary and Caroline Curran in Dunmore East, Co. Waterford. Over the years, demand and interest grew for powerboat training, as well as more specialized courses for VHF radio certification and Yachtmaster navigation courses. Gary pursued accreditation for all the above, and now South Coast Sailing offers a suite of courses for further developing your on-the-water experience!
South Coast Sailing will be running IS Powerboating courses with Waterford Harbour Sailing Club. These courses will be certified by the IS within the WHSC training scheme run throughout the summer in Dunmore East, based at the clubhouse and out on the water in your own powerboat or our South Coast Sailing RIB powerboat.
Upon successful competion of our VHF course, candidates are awarded the RYA VHF Operators Certificate. This allows you to legally operate a VHF onboard a vessel, and is an essential component of the Yachtmaster Coast and Yachtmaster Offshore Exams.
South Coast Sailing is now offering two RYA Yachtmaster Naviagtion courses to further your sailing experience - Dayskipper & Coastal/Offshore Skipper. These two classroom-based navigation course will be run from a facility in Waterford City. The Dayskipper course offers a comprehensive introduction to cruising for inexperienced skippers. The Coastal/Offshore skipper course offers advanced training for more experienced skippers building on the Day Skipper course.
